Another busy week-end for the Dragons

The club has another coach to call on now as Mike Smith passed his Level 1 coaching assessment on Saturday down at the Velodrome. Well done Mike!

Round 1 of the WMBS took place at Llandegla on Sunday the 13th March 2016 on a cold but dry day. The Dragons were joint organisers with Dyffryn Conwy and the excellent course attracted a record field with over 222 riders the highest since the millennium.
The Dragons had some excellent results in the younger age groups (come on Mom’s and Dad’s get racing) with new member Tomos G 2nd in the U8 boys; another new member Tomos J who despite a crash finished 8th in the U8 boys. Lowrie was 2nd in the U8 girls and Martha who has also just joined the club was 6th in the U8 girls and Megan was 4th in the U12 girls.
On the full course we had Tim 1st and Luke 5th in the U14 boys and Katie 1st in the U16 girls.
Well done to all the racers and those behind the scenes ensuring the race was a success.

Dragons Have a Super Week-End

With almost summer weather for the Antifreeze week-end it was hard not to have a good time. Saturday saw the Junior Antifreeze event with over 70 kids taking part. With courses suitable for everyone from youngsters on balance bikes to teenagers on carbon race bikes with all rider’s receiving medals for their efforts.
Big thanks to everyone who helped organise the Junior Antifreeze and helped on the day it made it a great family day out.

Sunday a couple of the members plus family friends rode 2 laps of a testing exciting course with all 5 riders crossing the finish line as a group.
Thanks to everyone who helped organise, marshall and man the food stations at the “Fox Antifreeze”
Report by Mike Smith

One of our young and talented riders Luke was at Cannock riding in his first XC of the season. Here is his report of the day.
“I had a poor start from second row. I made about 9 places up on the first corner. I knew i needed to get up to the front before the single track. For the whole of the first lap I was in 7th, I put a massive effort in at the start of the second lap. I was 5th for the last half lap and that’s where I finished, I was also first under 14. I would like to thank Dreigiau Coed y Brenin Dragons for supplying my race jersey. It was great to race in my new Kit.”
